Hey hey hey!

Last night I had very strange dreams of little steam engines (that smoked), kites, a party and people vomitting and when I woke in the morning I felt sick and felt like throwing up any minute.
But thankfully I didn't, still the feeling didn't go away completely yet.

How is it in my home country? Any interesting news or gossip??
Tonight I'm going to go out the first time ever in Cork (yeah u're right, I went out on New Year's Eve but to the local pub in Douglas). I met one Austrian girl just now who comes from Tyrol and she seemes quite nice, so I guess tonight will be smashing. lol.

Todays class was ok. The second teacher, Orla, seems to warm up more and did laugh a few times today and we did some interesting topics as well. We talked about the difficulty of asian languages and the asian student tried to explain us some things about the structure of their language.

The only disturbing thing is Andrea, a spanish girl, who appears to be rather unpleasant.
She always (and when I write 'always' I'm not exaggerating!) cuts the people -who are speaking at the mo- off and tells her stories, which are -to be totally frank- really dull. All the time she wants to be the centre of attention and shows off by telling stories that probably don't even contain a little spark of truth. Well, further she speaks very loud and spits while doing it. Disgusting or not, she's my fellow student, so I'll have to get used to her.

I'm really excited of going out today. I met some other pretty likeable French and I think we'll enjoy our evening together.
I can't think of anything more to say and my time on the computer is running out, so have a nice week and for everyone who had to go back to work or studies yesterday: Good speed!!

Yours sincerely,
Joanne.

Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, I got love in my tummy
And I feel like a-lovin you
Love, you're such a sweet thing
Good enough to eat thing
And it's just a-what I'm gonna do

Ooh love to hold ya
Ooh love to kiss ya
Ooh love I love it so
Ooh love you're sweeter
Sweeter than sugar
Ooh love
I wont let you go

Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, I got love in my tummy
And as silly as it may seem
The lovin' that you re giving
Is what keeps me livin'
And your love is like peaches and cream

Kind-a like sugar
Kind-a like spices
Kind-a like, like what you do
Kind-a sounds funny
But your love honey
And honey, I love you

Ba, da, ba, da, da , da, da
Ba, da, da, da, da, da . . .

Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, I got love in my tummy
That your love can satisfy
Love, you're such a sweet thing
Good enough to eat thing
And sweet thing, that ain't no lie

I love to hold ya
I love to kiss ya
Ooh love, I love it so
Ooh love, you're sweeter
Sweeter than sugar
Ooh love, I wont let you go

Ba, da, ba, da, da , da, da
Ba, da, da, da, da, da . . .

Sweet thing, yummy yummy
Sweet thing
Sweet thing, yummy yummy
Sweet thing

Any snow yet?

Although I already know the answer I wanted to know if maybe there's al least a little bit of said. Anywhere. (??)

Divine Proportion

My week-end was grand!! Although I had a searing pain in my knees, I managed to enjoy myself by watching the telly, drinking black tea with milk, smoking cigattes, just relaxing and most importantly: sewing!!
On Saturday I would have been invited to come to a dog race but I wasn't i the mood to go so I stayed in.

But I have to tell you all sth. It turned out Cork wasn't such a nice city after all ....
It is divided by the river into the north and the south part which differ a lot from eachother.
The north part is said to be the home of the working class and 'minor irish' people, whereas the south (where I happen to live) is the more wealthy and rich area.
I was really taken aback when Orla (my new teacher of the second class who rarely laughtes) told us today that if a young man with an nordish accent would approach her and ask her if she would like to dance, she would turn him down whether he's nice, handsome, congenial or a total brat just because she knows his origin. The north side of Cork. ....

Well, not nice, ey?!
But apart from that I'm quite ok.

I only fear that me hostmum Pat could possibly wash my clothes wronly. My beloved aubergine sweater came back lighter than it was before and she doesn't even wash clothes with 30 degrees. Only 40 and 60 degrees and she always uses a drier (because we haven't enough space in the house to hang up the laundry).
I'm quite scared my colourful lace knickers come out of the washing machine colourless and shrinked ....

Whatever. Maybe I just wash them by hand ....

Yesterday I was so bored that the only thing that could have hightened my boredom would have been a good, exciting book.
As I went shopping with Pat in the afternoon (we needed a new duvet for my superb double sized bed!! -> btw: I moved to the other room now .... it's grand!!) I looked for some book but didn't find anything of interest apart from Dan Brown's 'The Da Vinci Code' which I wanted to read for one year now.
Coincidental Pat had it at home so I didn't have to buy it and I already read half of it.
I was really desperate for reading sth decent (not only school work i mean) and exciting and I as well asked my parents to do me the favour of sending me the two latest HP books.

Well, as I'm already halfway through my book I can't wait to go on reading now, so sorry guys .... the detective story is waiting ....

Have a nice week and be good (*smirk*)!!
Good luck with everything and bye.
Yours,
Joanne.

Ps: I'm sorry if I can't respond to all of your nice mails that came dropping in over the week-end, cos as I already told you I have only half an hour time on the computer in school, so it's not even enough to write a descent blog entry ....
So, sorry for those who didn't get an answer. I'll just try to answer the questions in the blog like a FAQ or so .... k?!

Oscar, oh Oscar!

I would like to to start this entry with a quotation from Oscar Wilde:
'I can resist everything except temptation' and further: 'The only way to get rid of a temptation is yield to it'.
'Why this two?', you may ask.
Because I really like Oscar Wilde's works (especially 'The picture of Dorian Grey') AND I just read an article about the Vatican recognising him (as a gay) and more importantly his works (which were anything but friendly with religion and especially with Catholicism as he was a born Protestant).

Todays course was really terrific. We had a test in the first course (which lasts from 9 am till 11 am) and did a lot of talking about this and that in the second course (from 11:15 am till 1:15 pm). I really enjoyed it, mostly because this was the first day in this week I'm really feeling well rested.
Further I did quite well on my weekly test and the talking and exchanging different cultures was extraordinary (I'm in class with one Japanese boy, one Chinese girl and two South Korean girls).
Maybe I should note that today is the first day since my arrival that from time to time the sun is shining, which of course heightens my mood too.

So to sum up: beautiful weather, improvement of my English skills, interesting cultural exchanges, enough sleep, no sign of any illness (my hostmum is quite ill and I hope not to pick up her cough and cold).

Anyway, I'm quite crestfallen that there's no sign of life from any of you. No mails, no texts, no calls ....
Whatever, I won't die cos of this but everyone promised to get in touch with me as soon as I'm abroad.
So my invocation: contact me!! (I'm loney ....)

Well, now my mood is aground the deep, wide Irish Sea.
I'll better stop writing bollocks. We'll read eachother next week!
Good bye my dearest friends (who can't even get back to me!).
Yours diappointed,
Joanne.

I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's going to be a bright, bright sunshiny day

I think I can make it now the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I've been praying for
It's gonna be a bright, bright sunshiny day

Look all around there's nothing but blue skies
Look straight ahead nothing but blue skies

I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's going to be a bright, bright sunshiny day

I just buyed one, so in a few hours you may be able to reach me (on my own freshly charged mobile!!).

Hugs,
Joanne.

No battery recharger

For everyone who has already tried to reach me on my new mobile (which I guess must have been A LOT of people):
I'm sorry, but me hostmum can't find the recharger, so I'm without battery @ the mo.
I'll probly have to buy one ....

Until then, hugs'n'kisses.
Yours, Joanne.

Greetings from Cork!

At last I'm back again ....
Well, beginning with the 30th:
Not at all surprising my flight from Salzburg to Dublin was delayed and I arrived in Ireland two hours later than I had planned.

-A good tip here for all of those who have never been flying with RyanAir: do take accounts of delays. They happen more often than you can wish for ....-

I didn't catch the bus at 3 pm but easily got on the one at 5 pm, so at a quarter past nine I -at last- smelled the air in Cork and my hostmum was already waiting for me to drive me home.
I didn't do a lot that evening. Sitting on the sofa and watching the telly was enough for my exhausted body and mind and the next day I slept till 2 pm (!).

So, half of the 31st I overslept and I was nearly not wanting to go out in the evening. But then Pats son, Marc, told me to come with him and an Austrian friend called Gitty and they dragged me into the local pub.
You must know that New Year's Eve is not as long celebrated here in Ireland as we tend to do it in Austria. Back there already on the 25th and 26th one could here the bangers going off everywhere.

Apart from fireworks being illegal there wasn't a lot of conviviality. Of course a countdown was on, cheerful clapping when it reached the end, hugging and kissing, destroying balloons with a loud bang, wishing everyone a happy New Year, but after five minutes everything was over, back to 'normal' and everyone continued their conversation from before.
No-one did even think about going outside of the pub and looking if maybe a few illegal fireworks in a private alley had started or if maybe the local commune hast thrown out money for this .... .

Well, after all I had a nice evening and at 2 am I slowly doddered home (just to see that Pat was still up and I even got into bed before her!). So far my New Year's Eve. ....

Yesterday I was a bit (just a tiny bit) groggy and althought I said before that I would learn on the 1st of the year to prepare for my course, I didn't. *ashamedbe*
But, because I got up very late again, last night I couldn't doze off until two o'clock am, I got up at half past six and therefore I'm a bit tired as you can imagine.

Today the course was quite nice as we were only three girls (and those two I already met in November). Yeah, a bit hard to concentrate but I managed.
There are very little people here at the mo and it wouldn't be worth opening new classes that is why we are seven students in my class, four taking the CAE and three going to the normal 'Advanced Class'.
[Just a quick note to my parents:
This is a temporary solution, so nothing to trouble you.]

Well, this is all I have to tell, apart from: that I miss u all very much and that -although I'm only here for two days now- I would like to come back and venture sth. with u all!!

Have a nice time my dear Austrians, we'll see, we'll see.
Bye-bye, yours beloved
Joanne.

AND sth. else: No, u don't get any mails (Newsletters) when I published new (interesting) stories.
AND AND: If u have any nice presents or other lovely things just send them to me (it's my birthday in two months!)!
